Brief Description
The Republic of Slovenia is a parliamentary
democracy. Slovenia is a member of European
Union since 2004 and a participant in Euro
area since 2007. Slovenia emerged in 1991
as one of the constituent republics of
former SFR Yugoslavia. By 1996 it has resolved
the oustanding issues of divison of SFRY
assets and liabilities.
The Ministry of Finance is the body designated
by law to represent the Republic of Slovenia
in all matters connected with financing
the central government budget (see Government
Budget Financing Programme). The Ministry
of Finance is also responsible for servicing
central government debts. The Ministry
of Finance is entitled by law to use all
the budget proceeds for debt servicing,
regardless of planned budget item provisions
for a given year.

The Republic of Slovenia is a small open
economy.

the tip of the Adriatic.
